Fear is thought to be the basis of all of negative thoughts. Fear of failure, rejection, death, something new, the unknown, loss... we even fear success and fame to some extent. As we discussed before, to elevate beyond fear you must submit to faith, but until then how do you rid your mind of all the negative thoughts?

The easiest way is to replace them with a positive thought. Easier said than done though! Try it for the next week and you will see what I mean; it is not easy to simply think positive in light of a strong negative thought. Our negative thoughts have some value as well. If we didn’t hate loud noises then we’d become deaf. We if didn’t get upset when someone nearly hits our car on the freeway we wouldn’t be so observant the next time. If we liked people who hit us we would subject ourselves to abuse. As these examples show, negative thoughts have their place, so why should we change any.... and how?

Let’s take the examples above: You do hate loud noises, and for good reason, but how do you react? How long do you hold on to the negative feeling? These are key points, whether it be loud noises, reckless drivers, or violent people: YOU control your reaction and how LONG you remain negative.

When something happens to you, around you, that creates a negative thought the FIRST thing you need to do is be in that moment. This doesn’t require great thought or analysis, but it does require you to know WHY you have the negative thought and WHAT you will do about. You then need to respond and release.

Using our reckless driver example: I have the negative thought because I was afraid of being hit by their car and being hurt, and I felt disrespected that they consider themselves more important than me. These are my WHY feelings. They do NOT have to be accurate or valid because they are mine, my feelings and thoughts. Now I need to decide WHAT to DO about it. I’d change lanes and distance myself from this particular driver. Once I respond, I need to release the negative thought. Should I curse at them? Describe the situation to everyone I see that day? Mutter how awful they are and dwell on the fact that I don’t like them? No... WHY should I? What does it accomplish? This is why we need to decide WHAT to do and respond, then release. I have now done what I can, so I need to release the negativity.

Some negative thoughts can be easily replaced with a positive thought, but when you encounter one that is tough remember to:
~Stay in the moment
~Think about WHY you feel this way
~Decide WHAT to do
~Respond
~Release

For the reason behind this activity, or to learn more about negative thoughts, look for the upcoming CD set and discovery series!

It relies on its ability to optimize everything. In order for it to learn, it must make everything it absorbs, and everything it does, a HABIT. This allows for continued learning by keeping active thought processes to only what is being learned, while mature actions are now HABITS.

Let’s take a common example: learning to drive a stick-shift. Remember your first time? How much you had to think about it, practicing the little nuances? Now, you can do it while eating and talking on the phone!

How about the way you shower, brush your teeth, drive to work, take notes... all done approximately the same way every single time. They are all HABITS.

You cannot break a habit; you must replace it with a new habit. Keep this in mind!

You can learn to habitualize anything. You will habitualize things you do more than once.

Want to cook better? Work out more? Say “please” and “thank you”? Just start doing it; make yourself do it. In no time you will have a new HABIT. However it works both ways. Want to eat more junk food? Want to watch more TV? Again, the more you do something the quicker the habit it becomes.

Think about it when you’re learning something or trying to teach someone.

Remember it when you do anything new.
Be very careful what you put in your head:

~ What you see
~ What you hear
~ What you THINK

These can change your life... and they WILL change your life. The good news is that you control your thoughts.

Why the drama? Because as parents, you must teach your children this valuable lesson as early as you can. My youngest son said it best, without even realizing what he said “think about YES don’t think about NO.” You need to keep your thoughts on success, joy, love. The bible is very clear as well... keep your head looking up and your thoughts on what is good, lovely, righteous...” the Lord knows that is good. Furthermore, if it’s good it’s from God.

Poor self esteem, sense of failure, self-defeating habits, all stem from negative thoughts. You are what you think, and you draw near to you what you visualize.

Do you see success, happiness, and love in your thoughts? Is that ALL you see? Do you let in anything negative? If you do... STOP. Every single time a negative thought enters your mind you MUST IMMEDIATELY replace it with a GREAT thought. You can’t simply ignore it, you must replace it.

Try this for a day, then a week. Then a month. If you can manage an entire month of positive thought control I guarantee you a significant improvement to your life.

Let me know this goes for you. Don’t be disappointed if you fail that first day or week. You have years of negative thinking as a habit to break. Just start over and stay strong in it. Commit to it as a TOP priority. You will see results.
